find car rentals faster
Searching for travel products can take a lot of time, especially for price-conscious consumers.
In this guide, we will provide some information on how Upfront-Rentals can be used to reduce the time it takes to find a rental car.
The reverse workflow
Almost all travel websites look and function similarly:
Step 1 – The customer enters their dates and locations and presses search.
Step 2 – The customer is shown a list of offers.
Step 3 – The customer may filter and sort the offers by some of their properties.
Step 4 – The customer chooses an offer and reviews its details.
Step 5 – The customer adds supplementary products and services to the offer (safety seats, luggage, etc.).
In many cases, primarily with flights and rental cars where the main products and providers are very similar, most customers wish to find the cheapest offer.
The aforementioned workflow makes finding the cheapest offer, one that also includes all supplementary products and services, harder than it needs to be, as the customer is not shown the offer"s true total price in step 3.
Instead, the customer is forced to select each offer from each different supplier, manually add the required "extras," copy the new price to a spreadsheet, and then repeat the process for all vendors.
Only after manually entering all requirements for each vendor are they able to find the cheapest product.
At Upfront-Rentals, we break this artificial limitation.
We allow our customers to enter all of their requirements once before pressing search.
We will only show offers that meet all requirements, and in step 2, we will display the offer's true total price with everything included.
At Upfront-Rentals, finding the cheapest offer that includes all of the customer's requirements is as simple as selecting the first offer.
The built-in comparison tool
Upfront-Rentals includes a built-in comparison tool that allows you to see offers side by side in a table.
After you have clicked on an offer, you can add it to the comparison tool by pressing the button.
When you want to view the offers side by side, simply press the button.
Review the fine print before you book
At Upfront-Rentals, all information about the rental, including the rental terms, is available on the "offer details" screen (the one presented after you've clicked on the offer).
The pick-up requirements are shown in the center of this screen.
We also show an estimate of the trunk size in liters, since the commonly used metric of "N large/small suitcases" is unstandardized and not regulated in any way.
Please keep in mind that the trunk size shown is an estimate because:
1. This information is not provided by the rental companies; it is derived from the vehicle type.
2. Most vendors/companies do not guarantee a specific car model (only a "group").
3. Even when a specific car model is promised, the information provided by the vendors does not include the specific year and configuration, which also affect actual trunk size.
Automatic application of winter equipment and driver age fees
At Upfront-Rentals, we automate the addition of young/senior driver age fees to the offer based on the driver ages stated in the "conditions" section.
Similarly, we check the rental dates and the pick-up country"s legal requirements and automatically add snow chains when relevant.
In both cases, this saves customers time, though we still recommend checking these details before booking, particularly if you intend to travel to additional countries.
Rental search automation using price alerts
Upfront-Rentals also includes a free "price alerts" feature. With this feature, you can have us automatically re-execute your search once each day.
If we find offers at a lower price than the target you specified, we will send you an email notification.
We will not use your email to spam you with unrelated marketing offers, nor will we sell your email to a third party.
You can create price alerts after completing a search simply by pressing the button then specifying your target price and email address.
